___"Edible
Wild Plants of New England" is a comprehensive
introduction to the identification and uses of our native plants
for food and beverage. This 90-minute power point program features
our most common and appealing plant species; fresh specimens are
also provided for participants to examine and sample. Seasons of
availability, habitats, methods of preparation, and nutritional
value are discussed, and questions and comments are welcome. Illustrated
pamphlets with plant descriptions, guidelines
for responsible and safe foraging, and a bibliography for further
study are distributed to participants at the conclusion of the program.

___“Thank you so much for your recent presentation of “Edible Wild Plants of New England” at the library. Your program was enjoyed by a broad range of ages – and it is not always easy to develop a program that is a hit with both youth and adults. Your informal style helped people to feel comfortable asking questions throughout the evening.
___I received quite a bit of feedback from the participants, who were impressed with the number of samples that you brought along. Thank you again for such an informative and entertaining evening – we look forward to having you back to teach us about mushrooms!”
___- Karen Demers, Adult Services Librarian, Wilbraham Public Library
___“Plant specimens were presented to facilitate recognition, and many of these plants were ones we recognized from our own yards. We also appreciated the thorough illustrated handout that John distributed, including recipes for some of the plants. At his encouragement, some of our patrons formed a foraging group to continue learning about edible wild plants.”
___- Maggie Holmes, Adult Services, Richards Memorial Library, North Attleboro, MA
