"Healing Plants of the Northeast" is an introduction to the identification and uses of our native plants in optimizing health. This power point presentation features photographs illustrate distinguishing characteristics of the plants at different stages of their life cycles; fresh plant specimens are also displayed.

Seasons of availability, habitats, methods of preparation, historical uses, and current research findings about healing properties of these plants are discussed. The importance of definitive identification of plants used as home remedies, as well as collaboration with competent medical professionals in both diagnosis and treatment, are emphasized. Questions are welcome throughout the program, and participants are invited to share their experiences in using native plants to get well and stay well.

Herbal teas prepared from locally available plants are provided for sampling. Each participant is also offered an illustrated pamphlet with descriptions of plants and their uses, informative and reliable websites, and a bibliography for further study at the conclusion of the program.
Program length: 90 minutes
